Pupil Premium

The pupil premium is additional funding given to schools to reduce the gap in attainment between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. Disadvantaged pupils are considered to be those who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as Ever 6), or those who have been looked after by their local authority (LA) for more than six months. The grant was created to provide funding for three key areas:
  • Raising the attainment of disadvantaged pupil and closing the gaps with their peers.
  • Supporting children and young people with parents in the armed forces.
  • Providing funding for looked after children.
